Nurstead Court, Meopham, Kent
Wakes Ltd were asked to carry out a full restoration of a dilapidated flint Coach House. Estimated to approximately 200 years of age the former stable block and tack rooms have been converted into 2 cottages ready for holiday letting by Nurstead Court Ltd.
The cottages are located adjacent to the Main House, a Grade 1 Listed House which dates back between 1299 – 1319.
In keeping with conservation requirements and under direct supervision by the local Conservation Officer a large portion of the existing structure has been retained and restored through specialist methods. Extensive flint work was undertaken along with a historic skill set to achieve a building which is correct and in keeping with its previous structure.
With great help from a very experienced Structural Engineer (Mark Kitchen) & Architect (DAC) this transformation from foundations to the final interior fit-out has been a great experience for our team.
